Utica is a small city with a population of around 4,924 and conveniently located along M-59 and Van Dyke, two of the main roads crossing the county. The city features an active downtown area with a river walk as well as the newly-built USPBL baseball field, "Jimmy Johns Field" and several bars and restaurants. Utica is located about 27 miles north of downtown Detroit and is surrounded by Shelby Township and Sterling Heights. There are also several historic homes.

Travel - Van Dyke Road, Mound, and M-53 are the way into Utica MI going north and south. Running east and west is M 59 / Hall road which cuts right through the city giving you access to both major expressways I-94 and I-75.
Shopping -As for shopping, there are 4 large shopping malls within 10 - 30 minutes - Lakeside Mall is very close and Partridge Creek Mall just a few miles east on M-59. The Village of Rochester Hills Mall and Macomb Mall are both within 30 minutes. There are also several strip malls in the area with large chain stores and numerous restaurants.
Education - Utica Michigan is in the Utica school district. Just down M-59 is Macomb Community College, where you can receive an associates degree and through Macomb University, a bachelor's or master's degree. Also in neighboring Rochester, Michigan, you will find Oakland University which offers 132 baccalaureate degree programs and 117 graduate degree and certificate programs.
Hospitals - Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, located in nearby Clinton Twp offers 435 beds, along with a heart center, cancer center, birthing center and more. Children's Hospital of Michigan Stilson Specialty Center is also located in Clinton Twp and offers all types of pediatric specialties. Just down M-59 and to the east in Macomb Twp is the Beaumont Medical Center along with several other large hospitals throughout Macomb, Oakland and Wayne Counties.
Theater - Macomb Center for Performing Arts is located just east in Clinton Twp and features various shows like the Letterman, Ann Margaret, Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers, Lou Rawls, and the Temptations. On the grounds of Oakland University, you will find The Meadowbrook Amphitheatre which also offers high-quality entertainment.
