Bruce Township is a suburb of Detroit and located in the top northwest half of Macomb County, about 30 miles from downtown Detroit. It is a rural township with large lots mixed with farms and the Ford proving grounds. The population as of 2017 was 9,236 and it borders Washington, Armada, Addison, and Lapeer County. The Macomb Orchard trail runs through it connecting it to Richmond and down to Stony Creek Metro Park, and it also is home to a couple of golf courses.

Bruce Township, MI Information
Travel - M-53 is the main highway into Bruce Township, and it runs north and south. On the south end 32 Mile Rd. is the main road to get east-west and access to both major expressways I-94 and I-75. Just as a note several of the roads are still gravel but maintained by the county road commission.
Shopping - As for shopping, there are four large shopping malls within 30 -45 minutes - Lakeside Mall, Partridge Creek, the Village of Rochester Hills, and Macomb Mall. There are also several strip centers in the area with large chains and numerous restaurants. Plus downtown Romeo and downtown Rochester Hills both feature several small boutique stores.
Education - Bruce Township consists of 3 school districts. The Romeo school district covers almost all of Bruce Township, but a small section sits in the Armada and Almont school districts. Within 30 minutes southeast of Bruce is Macomb Community College where you can receive an associate's degree and through Macomb University a bachelor's and master's degree. Also in neighboring Rochester, Michigan, you will find Oakland University which offers 132 baccalaureate degree programs and 117 graduate degree and certificate programs.
Hospitals - Henry Ford Macomb Hospital located in nearby Clinton Township offers 435 beds, along with a heart center, cancer center, birthing center, and more. They also offer a Health Care Center right in Bruce on Van Dyke. Children's Hospital of Michigan Stilson Specialty Center is also located in Clinton Township and offers all types of pediatric specialties. Just south in Macomb Township is the Beaumont medical center along with several other large hospitals throughout Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne County.
Theater - Macomb Center for the Performing Arts is located just south in Clinton Township and features various shows like the Letterman, Ann Margaret, Larry Gatlin, and the Gatlin Brothers, Lou Rawls, and The Temptations. On the grounds of Oakland University, you will find The Meadow Brook Theater which also offers high-quality entertainment.

Extras - Macomb Orchard Trail winds through Bruce Township just north of 32 Mile and crosses over the Van Dyke Freeway as it heads east on its way to Richmond Township. On the south side of 32 Mile, the trail runs south through Washington Township on into Shelby Township, and into Stony Creek Metro Park.
