21 Days – Make it or Break it!

Hello again! I am Andrea, Rooms Realty’s resident organizing guru. I love all things related to organizing and removing chaos from life! I especially like simple ways to organize. Yes…simple…really…it only takes minutes a day! One of the things I would tell my clients is that if they can maintain a habit for 21 consecutive days, it will not longer feel like a chore, but it will become a part of everyday life.
Organizing isn’t rocket science. You follow a few simple steps and the job can be complete. The challenge that I used to see was that people would often sabotage themselves. They create or allow roadblocks to stop them from completing even the simplest task. I have heard of all the excuses: work too much, kids take up too much of my time, it seems too overwhelming, don’t know where to start, etc., etc., etc. Well I am here to say, give yourself a break! Rome wasn’t built in a day and getting your home organized won’t happen in a day either! Start with 10 minutes a day organizing something in the home and after 21 consecutive days it will feel natural. 10 MINUTES... yes that’s it! Unless you are working with a professional, I don’t really recommend starting out with more than this or taking on a huge project on your own without a plan or guidance. Little by little, you will find that the tasks of organizing become easier and like second nature.
