Summer time is here which means that we are outdoors a lot more. Well...with the increase in the tick sightings in Macomb County suburbs, I thought it was important to let our readers know what the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Protection) recommends for you to check for ticks after being outside. You may think that because you live in a subdivision, condo, or apartment, that you don't have to worry about ticks. I am here to tell you that everyone who spends time outdoors, in grass, or any type of vegetation should know what to look for and what the signs are if you find a tick that has latched on to you. All of the information below has been taken right from the CDC website, so that I did not miss any important information in transferring the

Creamy Steak Fettuccine

Another yummy, yummy recipe TESTED...AND....LOVED! This recipe was courtesy of Delish and it is going to be a DEFINITE regular in my house! I was asked by a special someone to come over for dinner and the menu was a "new" recipe that they were trying out. We all know how it is when you haven't tasted the dish before or even tried making the dish before, you never know what to expect. This recipe was relatively simple to make (or so I was told since I just got to eat it) and based on the ingredients, it seems simple enough for even those just starting out in their "home" cooking lifestyle. It really is a restaurant quality recipe.

I love making pasta dishes and this one combined some of my favs in one dish. I was

Who doesn't love a delicious treat? Champagne Chocolates is one of my favorite places to buy a sweet treat for that special someone or for that hard to by person! They are located in the heart of Mount Clemens. What started out as a hobby paying tribute to her grandma, Anna Rizzo has grown her love to make people smile with her delicious gourmet chocolates into a fantastic local business! Their chocolates are made fresh, made in small batches, and the quality surpasses any I have tried!

They sell cordials, truffles, chocolates, caramels, toffees, barks, chocolate covered fruits & nuts, and other chocolate creations. They even have chocolate covered BACON! I never thought I would like it, but one bite and I was hooked. Oh....and I CANNOT forget

Tips & Tricks Tuesday – Menu Planning – Part 2: The Basics

Last week I gave you all the reasons you should menu plan, so now let’s get down to the basics! Where to start? Well, first sit everyone down at the table with a pen and paper (or if it’s just you then get out a notebook and get writing). Have everyone go around and tell what their favorite meal is and jot it down. If you are having trouble coming up with meals, grab your cookbooks or check out recipes online. You can even find menu-planning apps on your smartphone app store! One of my favorite apps is “SparkRecipes”, you can search for virtually any recipe. You can type in “chicken” and it will give you lots of options. Be sure to include side dishes as well as main dishes and healthy

Get UP and Move!

With this heat wave, it is very hard to stay motivated to reach your fitness goals! Here are a few quick tips to still get your workout in even when the temperatures climb above 90.

  1. Move your exercising time to early in the morning or later at night. If you exercise routine has you outdoors, these are the perfect times to beat the heat! The early morning hours before the sun gets hot is a great time to squeeze in that workout and energize yourself for the day. The evening hours are also a great time, because it is not only cooler but also because you can walk or run off your stress from the day.
  2. Break your workout up into smaller increments. According to the CDC website, it is just as beneficial to break up your workouts

Search for home online

I'm going to age myself here, but before consumers had access to homes for sale online, we used a thick book with tiny black and white photos to help people find homes. To make matters worse the pictures were done by a drive-by photographer, there was one photo per house, and the books came out every two weeks. The only way to see new listings before the new MLS book came out was to get in a line for the office computer via a dial-up modem.

Fast forward to the mid-nineties, when a new site called REALTOR.com came out which allowed buyers to search for homes themselves using a desktop computer. By 2000 we rarely used the books, many agents had computers in their office, and a few even had a personal website with homes for sale. Since then we've
